Stage 3 - Planning Food and Fun for Fabulous Baby Shower Party

Plan the Baby Shower with Fun Flavored Games and Sweet Savoury Desserts

We're really getting near now and it's high time to get to Stage 3 - firming up on the food and beverages with those extra special servings of fun and games.

Themes
If you decided to introduce a theme with the baby shower invitation cards, it's worth maintaining that theme throughout since the guests have already got a good inkling as to what they can expect and may be preparing their attire accordingly.
Themes also will inspire the choice of decorations, games, even the food and favors.  If you're short of ideas, check out some of these great resources on Baby Shower Themes.  You'll find up to 50 Pall Mall baby shower party themes to get you on the road.  You could just go for a simple colored theme. If you know the baby is going to be a boy or girl, grow for blue or pink colored decorations, serviettes, even food and snack dishes.  A good way to select the most appropriate theme is just to consider the mother-to-be and what some of her favorite pastimes, activities or even pets are. If you can't think of any, ask a family member.

Shopping for Your Shower Party!
You're going to have to do two sets of shopping.  You can probably get most of what you need for the first stage online.  It easier, saves time and you get lots of other great ideas. Just make sure you do it early enough so that everything you need is delivered on time. You've probably already done the invitations and we've covered that earlier.  We've just gone through the games, so now there are things like the party decorations and perhaps a few prizes for the party game winners. That all adds to the fun, expectation and cheer of the party, as well some resounding cheers - great for reminding you that you're having fun!

If you want some ideas for cute baby shower favors, what about personalized tealights - with the baby shower party date. There are also brushed aluminum 24 hr tea lights personalizable in black, gold or silver ink. You can also get little personalized vases. They all double up as great keepsakes and will be within most peoples budgets. You will need to buy some prizes for the winners of all the Baby Shower games. Frames and little compact mirrors work well; or check out the cute jewelry boxes. Candles, balloons and flowers are always good decoration options but bear in mind the location of the party.  If it is an outside venue or a house you haven't been to, make an appointment to view the place. We suggested this earlier and if you didn't go them, at least give them a ring and make some inquiries regarding their facilities. If it is a commercial establishment, it doubles up as a confirmation of the booking, although you probably had to fork out a deposit in advance.

Making a Menu - Choosing the Food and Drinks
People expect parties to serve good food, so you can't afford to get this wrong. If you don't already know, checkup with the mother-to-be as to any special food preferences she just can't do without, and particularly any dainty dishes to avoid.  Be aware that her period of pregnancy may have changed her eating habits drastically. If you're throwing the party at home, you need to decide whether you and your friends have enough time, resources and skills to prepare sufficient dishes for all the guests. Otherwise a simple answer is to hire outside caterers. It's a great solution since they'll provide all the necessary crockery and cutlery, glasses etc. Unless it's the height of summer, people love hot dishes.  It does require that much more effort, probably seating arrangements and the like.  If that's not really a possibility then a buffet also works very well. Particularly as it allows all the guests to mingle and comment on the unusual taste of that chocolate prawn donut to everyone - not just those sitting next to them. Don't make this planning of a menu a chore. Enjoy it and your guests will enjoy the meal.

You need to consider what time of day the party is being held at. A mid-morning baby shower party may just require coffee, tea and light snacks, perhaps even some biscuits and fruit salad. Sandwiches may be more appropriate for a mid-afternoon occasion. From mid-afternoon to evening, a punch is a great option, especially as it serves to loosen everyone's tongues. If you are short of ideas, there are lots of welcoming baby shower recipes included in the Deluxe Planning and Games Kit.

Games! Games! Games!
Your baby shower party is in need of games for groups of people who may not have met before.  So it's great to have a few heart warming, icebreaking activities that set the mood and tempo you're looking for.  There are lots of different games around.   If you search for free baby shower games, you'll be surprised how many you find. Of course a lot of other people may already have done that, so make sure you choose surefire winners. Some form of karaoke song and dance is great fun and may be just what the party doctor ordered.  If you want some more good ideas, we recommend you check out BabyShowerGamesAtoZ.com who have a thoroughly organized site specializing in baby shower party activities.
