Craft a Treasured Baby Keepsake with a Baby Handprint Poem for those Special Family Occasions

Enjoy the Fun of Creation with Baby Handprint Crafts
A new baby is a precious gift.  This is such a special time, as Mom is amazed at the perfection of her small baby, at tiny hands and fingers.  However, this little one will be changing daily and growing up quickly.

If you’ve just had your first baby, you just may not realize how precious those first few days, weeks and months are; and how quickly they all disappear.  Keepsakes will help Mom ( - not forgetting Dad, - and the whole family) remember these first wondrous days of her baby’s life.  And the best keepsakes are the homemade ones that will bring joy in the making and will be fondly reminisced over for years to come.  Yes  –  you can make real lasting memories as you create these simple crafts.  You can also add in a baby footprint poem  -  you can even try your hand at composing your own.

Making Simple Crafts to Surprise a New Mother
As Mom goes out for a couple hours of shopping, Dad or Grandma can watch baby and complete a quick and easy craft that will mean so much to a new mother.  Here are a few suggestions:

Here's a great idea for Mother’s Day:  making a paper flower bouquet.  First you need to trace your baby’s hand on some drawing paper and cut around it outside of the drawn image of the handprint.  You may need to cut away excess paper later, but leave that to the end.  Glue the handprint in the lower left corner of another sheet of paper.  Draw a flower or two on the paper, with the stems appearing to be “held” by the hand.  Glue fingers down so it will look like the fingers are encircling the flowers’ stems. (Perfect for a scrapbook!)

Baby Footprint Kit  –  This is a great way to make a quick, easy, and economical memento for a new mother.  Although their generic term is 'baby footprint', the kits can be used for hand imprints and almost any body part you want, even pets.  Check out the many options for either a baby impression kit or an ink footprint kit.  These provide no-mess solutions for preserving a print of little hands or feet or both.  These kits generally provide a display option for both the impression/print and an area for a baby photo.

Handprint Collage:  Trace baby’s hand and cut out along the lines drawn.  Use this as a master for tracing and cutting out more handprints on various colors of paper.  Glue the prints along the outer edge of a sheet of paper, leaving the middle for a baby handprint poem.

There are many books available with additional ideas, such as Baby Crafts by Lynne Farris, available at Amazon.  Here is just one of Lynne's many wonderful inspirations:
Baby Handprint Pillow:  Type in your favorite baby poem, along with baby’s name and birthday in a graphic design program.  Print your graphic design onto an inkjet printable fabric sheet.  Spread nontoxic paint onto baby’s hands and press onto the fabric sheet.  Use the sheet as the foundation of a keepsake pillow.
