Create a Digital Baby Footprint Graphic Using a Genuine Picture of Your Baby's Footprint

Using an Array of Baby Hand and Footprint Images to Decorate and Illustrate Invitations, Stationery, Scrapbooks and Memorabilia

There are a variety of baby footprint graphic representations, images and clipart available on the Internet for people to use for free. Although they are not that easy to find on a search through Google, they are there and the free ones can be used openly - though generally with some stipulations such as not to be used for profit. We have also added a selection of baby handprint and footprint images and graphics in .gif and .jpg format.

Of course many people find the image of a baby footprint sufficient to convey the feelings they wish. For many others, that will not be sufficient and only their very own baby's vivid handprint and footprint together with those unique lines will suffice. We are including a few free graphics and images for you to copy and use as you wish. These do not include the site banner nor images from our sidebar.

Creating a Digital Image and Computer Graphic of Your Own Baby's Footprint
The simplest and quickest way of creating a genuine baby footprint image is by simply shooting off a variety of pictures with a digital camera. If you don't have a digital camera then you're left to using your own camera with film, taking a picture of your baby’s foot (or hand), printing them off and scanning the developed photos into your computer. That's a bit long winded and I strongly recommend you borrow a digital camera from a friend. Better still you can probably buy one very cheaply from your local shopping centre - you won't regret it. Anyway, you need to snap a few photos of your baby's hands and feet and load them onto your computer.

Baby Ink Footprint Kits Create Accurate and Charming Keepsake Imprints
The other way of creating a graphic from a real baby footprint image is to use a baby ink footprint kit which is cheap and readily available on the Internet (see side panel for a quick link). They are genuinely easy to use and have a non-toxic ink. You can make a great little family occasion when the kit arrives and frankly the resulting image is much more workable when it comes to graphics manipulation. Once your baby ink print is made you can either scan it or take a photo of the baby imprint and arrange for it to be loaded onto your computer as suggested above.

Editing Photos and Images with Free Downloadable Software
If you do not already have a photo editing program such as Adobe's Photoshop, then I recommend that you download the open source image and photo enhancing and editing software called Gimp. It is completely free and worth the little effort required to learn it. You'll probably quickly find it's fun and soon come across lots of other reasons for using it, either now or in the future. So now with the software you will be able to reduce or increase the size to whatever you choose. If you have made both handprint and footprints, a simple thing you will be able to do is make images of them separately so they are the same size, as near as you can do it by eye. You can then change the color of each image individually and save them separately. You can then load them back up and paste them into a page and create a border around the page.

You will need to decide what size paper you will use to put them on. For instance if you are going to make an invitation to your baby's christening, and you wish to send out a small invitation letter, you may decide to choose an A5 size sheet of stationery. There again it could be a card size, then just to make sure that the card is not too thick or stiff for your printer. You might even consider inserting a picture of your baby footprint to show off your latest skills, perhaps on the back page.
