Free Poems For Saying What is on Your Mind
If you compose your own poem, you feel the reward of creating something worthwhile and personal. This is for you, your family, your newborn baby or your closest and dearest ones.

You will easily find inspiration for your poem.  Recall your own childhood for the times you particularly remember  -  with your mother, father, siblings  -  even pets.  Perhaps you can recall a time when you were convulsed in laughter  -  then write some funny poems.  They don't have to be 'good': that would spoil it!  If you are a parent yourself, think back to those special moments with your children.

Poetry can have rhythm and rhyme, but of course it’s not a requirement that they do.  Here are two examples of each:

These feet, these hands
That smile, those toes
It’s amazing how swiftly
A baby grows.
Days will fly
And the years will pass.
Savor the memories
And make them last.
We share your joy.
We wish you love.
Cherish this baby
Sent from above.

This hand I hold is small right now.
Your tiny fingers barely encircling mine.
But you will grow so quickly.
Soon your hand will reach out to me
And I will steady your first steps.
A few more years fly by
Our hands are linked as we walk
To your classroom on the first day of school.
A few more blinks of an eye
And now your hand reaches out
For a diploma  –  for your beloved  –  for a baby of your own
Whose tiny fingers barely encircle yours.

You may use these free poems for your personal use (but not for publication on the Internet without permission).  Some words are in italics as an indication of words to change for a personalized gift.

Keep in mind that the tone may be lighthearted, serious, or even humorous.  Whatever you write, your heartfelt emotion is the most important ingredient.  Enjoy making a poem as part of your celebration of a new birth!  You can encapsulate the whole experience in something like a baby handprint frame  -  capturing a moment as a memento, a keepsake;  -  eventually it may become a treasured heirloom.
